Newz Desk,Asansol: Police have arrested one person in connection with the alleged brutal assault on a mini-bus driver on the Dendua-Kalyaneshwari Road several days ago. The arrested accused has been identified as Ashik Ruidas, a resident of Ruidas Para in Jemari Hattala.
According to police sources, a group of miscreants allegedly stopped a moving mini-bus near Dendua Hospital and attacked the driver without warning. The driver was severely beaten and sustained serious injuries. Kalyaneshwari outpost police reached the spot after receiving information and arranged for the injured driver to be taken to hospital.
The incident came back into focus after a portion of the assault was captured on CCTV and recently went viral on social media. After examining the footage, police began efforts to identify those involved. On Thursday morning, police arrested Ashik Ruidas from in front of a factory in the Dendua area. He was produced before the court later in the day. Police said that other accused persons allegedly involved in the assault are still absconding, and a search operation is underway to trace them.
