Newz Desk, Asansol/Jamuria 28th September: India Power has launched the third phase of its free women’s skill development programme, ‘Project Kaushalta’, in Jamuria with the aim of helping women from economically disadvantaged families become financially self-reliant.
The programme was inaugurated on Monday in the presence of Jamuria MLA Bijan Mukherjee, India Power CFO Anil Krishna Prasad and other senior officials of the company.
The CSR initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Mukesh Himatsingka Foundation, provides free training to women aspiring to build careers in the healthcare sector as General Duty Assistants (GDAs). This year, 30 women from Jamuria will undergo a three-and-a-half-month NSDC-certified training programme. The course will cover basic patient care, soft skills, communication skills, as well as practical and workplace-oriented training.
After completing the training, participants will have to appear for an examination conducted by the Healthcare Sector Skill Council. Those who successfully clear the examination will become eligible to explore employment opportunities in the healthcare sector across different parts of the country. A key objective of Project Kaushalta is to link skill development with employment opportunities. According to India Power, 44 trainees have so far secured jobs at reputed hospitals in Kolkata, including CMRI and Apollo Gleneagles, through the initiative.
Speaking at the inauguration, Jamuria MLA Bijan Mukherjee appreciated the initiative and said such programmes could help women from economically disadvantaged families become self-reliant. He said skill development would enable them to earn independently and contribute financially to their families. He also praised India Power for undertaking the initiative.
