Newz Desk, Durgapur: Be careful before you booking seats through a local agent for admission for GNM courses in Bangalore. Several students from Nandigram, aspiring to study GNM nursing in Bangalore, have found themselves in serious trouble after booking seats through a local agent. The students had submitted their original academic documents and paid advance fees, hoping to avail benefits under the Student Credit Card (SCC) scheme. However, after failing to secure the loan facility, they are now unable to take admission—and their original documents are being withheld by the college.
The situation has triggered chaos across Nandigram, with affected students filing an FIR against the Bangalore-based nursing college authorities and the local agent who facilitated the admissions.
Original Documents Withheld, Students Stuck
Students from Akandabari, Mohammadpur, Kalicharanpur, and other areas—including Lakshmikanta Parua, Samir Das, Nazia Sultana, Shami Akhtari, and Nasir Parvin—had booked seats at the Bangaluru institution by paying ₹10,000–₹20,000 each.
The course fee was ₹3 lakh, which they expected to manage through the Student Credit Card scheme. To complete the admission process, they submitted their original Madhyamik admit cards and Higher Secondary mark sheets through the agent, Pinku Maiti of Purushottampur.
When the SCC loan did not materialise, the students were unable to pay the full fees. But despite repeated requests, the college did not return their original documents—leaving them unable to apply elsewhere or continue their academic careers.
Agent Blames College; Students Allege Fraud
Pinku Maiti, who had opened offices in Nandigram Thana More, Haldia, and other areas to recruit students for the Bangalore nursing college, claimed that he repeatedly asked the college to return the documents but they refused.
“The college authorities are not releasing the original papers. The matter is now beyond my control,” he said.
However, students accused him of misleading them with false promises. “We were assured that the Student Credit Card facility would be arranged. Based on that, we booked seats and handed over our original documents. Now we cannot take admission and cannot retrieve our papers. This is fraud,” said complainant Lakshmikanta Parua.
FIR Lodged; Police Begin Investigation
On 23 November, Lakshmikanta Parua lodged an FIR at Nandigram police station, naming both the college authorities in Bengalore and agent Pintu Maiti.
A case has been registered on charges of fraud, and Sub-Inspector Bibhash Dolai has initiated an investigation.
With crucial academic documents stuck and no clarity on their future, the affected students and their families are left distressed and uncertain about their next steps.
