Newz Desk, Durgapur November 29, 2025: PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Panagarh celebrated its Annual Day on Saturday with great enthusiasm, cultural vibrancy and a ceremonious atmosphere. The event was graced by Colonel Akash Sharma as the Chief Guest.
The Chief Guest was welcomed at the school entrance with a traditional greeting by the Scouts and Guides, while NCC cadets escorted him with full honour to the stage. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests.
Principal Highlights Achievements and Infrastructure Progress
Addressing the gathering, Principal Nandkishor Soni extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, School Management Committee members, parents and students. He highlighted the school’s academic progress, co-curricular achievements and major infrastructural developments.
He informed that the school had received approval for projects worth ₹5 crore from the headquarters in New Delhi. Construction of the school’s internal road and the new vocational lab has already been completed, while a comprehensive special repair work of the entire school building is expected to begin soon. He also noted the consistent rise in the number of students scoring 90% to 97%, reflecting the school’s academic excellence.

A Rich and Colourful Cultural Showcase
The cultural programme began with a delightful welcome dance by Class I students, followed by a melodious group song by the junior choir. The ceremonial start of the cultural lineup was marked with a graceful Ganesh Vandana.
A touching Matr Vandana dance by junior students left the audience emotional. This was followed by the Principal’s presentation of the Annual Report, after which the Chief Guest honoured meritorious students with medals and certificates.
The students of Class VI performed a socially themed play aimed at promoting moral values and social awareness. A series of vibrant cultural performances followed, including:
- Assamese Bihu dance, showcasing the rich folk culture of Assam
- Bihari folk dance, receiving loud applause
- Classical dance group performance
- An engaging English skit
- Santhali dance, highlighting the tribal heritage of Odisha and Jharkhand
- A dramatic portrayal of freedom fighter Khudiram Bose, depicting his courage and martyrdom
- Energetic Punjabi dance, lifting the festive spirit
The music group rendered a soulful classical composition based on Raga Yaman, while a junior student captivated the gathering with an impressive classical solo dance.
To promote health and discipline, students presented a Yoga demonstration, highlighting the importance of yogic practices. The school’s musical troupe later presented a lively orchestra performance, showcasing perfect coordination of rhythm, melody and instruments.
Honouring the Unsung Heroes
In a heartwarming gesture, the school invited its sanitation staff onto the stage and honoured them with mementos and shawls, acknowledging their year-long service in maintaining campus cleanliness. Teachers who contributed exceptionally to various school activities were also felicitated. Students who represented the school at national-level sports events received special recognition.
Sports Achievements Recognised
Winners of the Annual Sports Day events—including the relay race and shot put—were awarded medals and certificates.
Vote of Thanks
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Manoj Kumar, Mathematics teacher, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, parents, staff and students for making the Annual Day a memorable success.
