Jamuria/Asansol, September: Highlighting the importance of blood donation in saving lives, Shyam Metalics on Saturday (Sept 13) organised a large blood donation camp at its Jamuria plant, drawing participation from nearly 800 employees. The drive not only underlined the company’s commitment to community welfare but also showcased the spirit of solidarity among its workforce.
The camp was inaugurated by S K Maity, plant head, Jamuria Unit of the integrated metal producing company, who emphasised the role of such initiatives in serving society. The event was marked by enthusiastic turnout from employees, volunteers and local residents.
Several dignitaries, including Maharaj Somatma Nanda of Asansol, Paschim Bardhaman Zilla Parishad member Latifa Kazi and Jamuria MLA Hareram Singh, attended the programme. Guests also interacted with blood donors at the camp and urged more people to take part in similar initiatives.
Brij Bhushan Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Shyam Metalics, said that community welfare had always been integral to the company’s way of working and that an initiative like the blood donation camp was aimed at creating a culture of compassion and responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, S K Maity, plant head, Shyam Metalics, Jamuria Unit, said that the plant’s culture of unity had flowed outward, bridging industry and society, and he thanked every individual who had made it possible. “When employees step forward together for a cause like this, it shows how deeply we value life and community beyond the boundaries of our plant. I am grateful to every employee who came forward to donate, and to our guests who encouraged and supported this initiative,” Maity said.
