Newz Desk, Durgapur: Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, has achieved a major milestone in technology-driven orthopaedic care by successfully completing 2,000 robotic-assisted joint replacement surgeries.
The milestone was achieved at Apollo Hospitals Main Hospital on Greams Road, Chennai, under the leadership of Dr Vijay Kishore Kondreddy, Clinical Lead and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Robotic Joint Replacement, and an Arthroscopic Surgeon.
The achievement includes robotic-assisted knee and hip replacement procedures carried out using advanced surgical techniques and technology. Robotic-assisted joint replacement combines the expertise of orthopaedic surgeons with computer-assisted technology to facilitate detailed pre-operative planning and precise execution of surgery.
Speaking about the milestone at the Apollo Information Centre in Durgapur, Dr Kondreddy said the completion of 2,000 robotic joint replacement surgeries was a proud moment for the entire team. He said the achievement reflected Apollo Hospitals’ focus on adopting advanced technology while keeping patient safety, surgical precision and clinical outcomes at the centre of its approach.
According to Dr Kondreddy, robotic technology does not replace the expertise of a surgeon but acts as a tool that complements clinical experience. It can assist surgeons with precise planning and implant positioning, while allowing treatment to be tailored to individual patients.He also credited the patients’ trust and the efforts of the multidisciplinary medical team for the achievement. He said the hospital would continue to advance joint replacement procedures with the aim of helping patients regain mobility and return to active and independent lives.
