State Govt Launches Free Coaching Under ‘Yogyashree’ Scheme for JEE, NEET and WBJEE Aspirants

Newz Desk, Durgapur: The West Bengal Department of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development has announced a major educational initiative aimed at supporting meritorious students from marginalised communities. Under the ‘Yogyashree’ scheme, the state government will provide free coaching for competitive examinations such as JEE, WBJEE and NEET (2027).

The scheme is open to students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, as well as students belonging to General, OBC and Minority communities. Only students currently studying in Class XI (Science stream) are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum Marks in Madhyamik (or equivalent):
    • SC: 60%
    • ST: 50%
  • Annual family income: Not exceeding ₹3 lakh
  • Students who meet these criteria will be selected for free, full-term coaching at district-level training centres.

To support economically weaker students, the government will also provide a monthly stipend of ₹300 to every enrolled candidate.

Application Process

A list of district-wise training centres has been published, and the application forms are available at each centre. Students may also download the form from the official website:

Completed physical forms must be submitted to the respective training centres by 24 December 2025.

For added convenience, the government has also enabled online applications through the same website. Students may log in directly or scan the QR code printed on the official poster to apply.

A Boost for Marginalised Students

Officials from the department stated that the initiative aims to ensure that talented students from disadvantaged backgrounds get equal access to high-quality coaching, helping them compete effectively in national-level entrance examinations.

The free coaching programme, combined with financial assistance, is expected to significantly boost the prospects of students aspiring to pursue engineering and medical careers.

Authorities have urged eligible students across the state to apply within the deadline to take full advantage of the government’s support.
