Newz Desk, Durgapur: A four-year-old child who accidentally swallowed a sharp iron nail was successfully treated at IQ City Hospital, Durgapur, without the need for major surgery. Doctors removed the potentially dangerous foreign object through an emergency endoscopic procedure.

According to hospital sources, the child accidentally swallowed the sharp iron nail at around 8 am on August 28, 2026. Soon after, he developed severe abdominal pain and began vomiting blood. The family initially approached several healthcare centres seeking emergency treatment. However, considering the complexity of the case and the risks involved, the child was advised to be taken to Kolkata for further treatment and possible emergency surgery. After consulting several doctors, the family was informed that surgery could involve significant risks.

With the child’s condition requiring immediate intervention, the family brought him to IQ City Hospital at around 7 pm the same day.
