Newz Desk, Durgapur: A shocking discovery of four human skeletons deep inside a forest has triggered panic and speculation in the Jathgaria More area of Malandighi in Kanksa. The incident came to light after local residents alerted the police. A large police team from Kanksa Police Station subsequently reached the spot and found four skeletons lying inside the forest, some distance away from the main road.
The police cordoned off the area and recovered the remains following the prescribed procedure. The surrounding area was also searched as part of the initial investigation. However, several questions remain unanswered. It is not yet clear how the four skeletons reached the location, how long they had been lying there or under what circumstances the individuals died. The identities of the deceased are also yet to be established.
Deputy Commissioner of the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate, Raspreet Singh, said, “Four skeletons have been recovered. Prima facie, they have been identified as human remains. Forensic officials recovered the skeletons. Details regarding their identity and whether they are linked to any missing persons can be established only after forensic examination. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are also being investigated.”
The recovered remains are being sent for forensic examination. Investigators expect the examination to provide crucial information regarding the approximate time of death, identity and other details. Police are exploring all possible angles, including whether the remains could be connected to any criminal activity or missing-person cases. At this stage, no definitive conclusion has been reached regarding the circumstances behind the deaths. The recovery of four skeletons from the same forested area has left local residents deeply concerned, with many now awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation.
