Newz Desk, Durgapur: The 26th Foundation Day of Bengal College of Engineering and Technology (BCET) and SKS Group of Institutions was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Sanjay Gautam Auditorium in Bidhannagar on Thursday.
The programme brought together dignitaries and representatives from the education, industry and administrative sectors. Bishnupur MP Saumitra Khan attended the event as the chief guest. Students added colour to the celebrations with a series of cultural performances.
Officials, heads of departments, faculty members and students from various institutions under the SKS Group, including BCPSR, the Diploma Engineering Department, DIMS, BINS, DPS and Bengal Hospital, participated in the programme.
SKS Group of Institutions Chairman S.K. Sharma was present at the event along with several prominent representatives from the industrial and aviation sectors. Among those attending were Kailash Mandal-Director of Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport, Raju Singh-DGM of Shyam Ferro Alloys Ltd, Ajay Mishra-AGM of Shyam Steel Industries Ltd, Tej Pratap Singh of Jai Balaji Industries Ltd and Roshan Barnwal of The Drop Organisation, among others.
Addressing the students, S.K. Sharma shared key principles for achieving success in life. He stressed the importance of honesty, dedication, hard work, efficiency and completing responsibilities within the stipulated timeframe.
Referring to a commitment made during the previous Foundation Day, Sharma acknowledged that the planned air-conditioning work at the auditorium could not be completed during the year. He assured the gathering that the auditorium would be transformed into a modern, fully air-conditioned facility before the next Foundation Day.
Chief Guest Saumitra Khan, while addressing the students, described student life as one of the most memorable and valuable phases of life. He encouraged students to make the most of the period and create meaningful memories. He emphasised that success should not be measured solely by examination marks. Students, he said, should give their 100 per cent whether they choose academics, sports, art or any other field. Highlighting the rapidly changing technological landscape, Khan said students have now entered the era of Artificial Intelligence. With competition increasing across sectors, he urged them to continuously upgrade their skills and capabilities to remain relevant and succeed in employment, business and technology-driven careers.
The programme concluded with the felicitation of the invited dignitaries, followed by cultural performances by students, marking the successful completion of the 26th Foundation Day celebrations.
