Newz Desk, Durgapur 29th January 26: To tackle the growing problem of traffic congestion, the Asansol Durgapur Development Authority (ADDA) has reduced roadside parking fees and strengthened organized parking facilities across Durgapur.
A press conference was held today at ADDA office, attended by Chairman Kabi Dutta, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic P V G Satish Pashumarthi, ACP Traffic III Rajkumar Malakar, and the ADDA CEO and others to discuss about new parking measures to be rolled in Durgapur to curb roadside congestion

Officials informed that several parking zones in Durgapur are now being managed by women from self-help groups. Despite this, many people continue to park their vehicles along both sides of the road leading to two major shopping malls in City Centre, causing frequent traffic snarls. To address this issue, multiple designated parking areas have been set up and are being operated by the women’s self-help groups.
As per the revised parking charges, two-wheelers will be charged ₹10 for three hours, four-wheelers ₹20, and bicycles ₹5.
ADDA Chairman Kabi Dutta said the initiative not only helps ease traffic congestion but also empowers women economically. “The responsibility of managing parking has been entrusted to women so that they become self-reliant. They are dealing politely with the public, and at the same time people are getting proper facilities to park their bikes, cars, and bicycles. At present, there are 13 parking zones, and more will be added soon,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate, P V G Satish Pashumarthi, said traffic personnel are remaining vigilant. “Strict steps are being taken to prevent traffic congestion. Vehicles parked unnecessarily on roads are being fined,” he added.
