Durgapur: A complaint has been lodged against The Mission Hospital, Durgapur, alleging medical negligence and violation of patient rights. The complaint was filed by Dhanbad-based advocate Amit Sinha before the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission.
Taking the matter seriously, the Commission has issued a notice to the hospital management seeking an explanation. The Commission is the state regulatory authority responsible for monitoring and regulating private hospitals and nursing homes to ensure compliance with prescribed standards of medical care.
According to the complaint, Amit Sinha alleged that several important diagnostic reports were not provided at the time of discharge of his 70-year-old mother, Sushila Kumari. As per the discharge education record dated February 15, 2026, key reports including CT scan, brain USG, blood culture, and echocardiography were allegedly not handed over.
The complaint further claims that despite an infection in the patient’s leg, she was discharged from the hospital. It has also been alleged that on February 12, hospital staff and security personnel misbehaved with the attendant and restricted access to the patient.
The hospital had reportedly denied the allegations earlier, citing CCTV footage in its defense.
The matter is now under review by the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission, and further action will depend on the response submitted by the hospital management.
