Martyr Sujay Ghosh’s Mortal Remains Reach Panagarh, Laid to Rest with Full Military Honors

Newz Desk, Durgapur: The mortal remains of the brave soldier Lance Naik Sujay Ghosh, a member of the Indian Army’s elite Special Forces unit, who made the supreme sacrifice during an anti-terror operation in the Kishtwar range of Kokernag, Jammu and Kashmir, arrived at the Arjan Singh Air Force Station in Panagarh on Saturday aboard a special Air Force aircraft.

Army officials paid floral tributes to the martyr and honored him with a gun salute before his mortal remains were sent to his native village in an army vehicle.

Lance Naik Sujay Ghosh hailed from Kundira village under Bhawanipur Panchayat in Rajnagar block of Birbhum district, West Bengal. The news of his martyrdom sent waves of grief across his village and the surrounding areas. He is survived by his mother Namita Ghosh, father Radheshyam Ghosh, elder brother Mrityunjay Ghosh, grandfather Vamapad Ghosh, and younger brother. Coming from an agricultural family, Sujay had joined the Indian Army seven years ago.

According to the Indian Army’s official press release, Lance Naik Ghosh laid down his life in the line of duty at an altitude of nearly 12,000 feet during an anti-terror operation in South Kashmir. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Special Forces team had launched a mission in the treacherous terrain to track down terrorists. During the operation, the team was caught in a severe snowstorm and heavy snowfall. Despite the extreme conditions, Lance Naik Ghosh continued the mission courageously, demonstrating the highest levels of valor and dedication — qualities that symbolize the spirit and commitment of the Indian Army.

After several days of search amid harsh weather, the mortal remains of the brave soldier were recovered from the snow. His final rites will be performed with full military honors, marking a solemn tribute to his unmatched courage and service to the nation.
